I’m Aleesha Simmons, the founder of Doug’s Run. My son Doug passed away at the age of 16 on 4/28/19 due to sudden cardiac Arrest.  The day before 4/27/19 i took him to the ER because he was complaining about a bump on his chest hurting..and because I didn’t know enough about congestive heart failure and the causes and symptoms surrounding it i did not know what to tell the doctors to look for so they sent him home and said he was fine the next day my sons heart stopped beating and he was gone and because of it my whole life has changed Doug wanted to complete his run the day he passed and he did and now i must complete mine because of this my life is dedicated to bringing awareness to this silent killer called Sudden Cardiac Arrest in our student  athlete community.
